As you learned from the high-school, in a well developed coutry, tertiary industries account for most part of the industry. Commonly, the tertiary industry is about the service. Like other industries, in the IT industry, the concept of the service is introducing.
B2C market
In the B2C market, "tediousness" helps the service to make money. For instance, in the fashion industry, you cannot wear the same clothes everyday. That is because of not only the dirtiness, but also tiresomeness. How about the others ? for the music, we can satisfy when we listen to music but not with one music. We have various genres. So are the massage service and the food.
B2B market
In spite of the B2C market, in the B2B market, tiresomeness is not important thing. Other traits, such as Performance, Robustness, stability and so on, are more important. In this market, gainning the competitive edge is weighty.
IT market
Nowadays, SaaS, Software as a Service, is easy to hear. It means that software will be sold not as a product, but as a service. IT also have both kind of markets. Generally, it's easy to impose the fee on the company. Yet as for the customer, it's not that easy because of their basic perception of the software. If the customers have the understanding of payment about a product, we can derive other products with an added service. Unfortunatly, however, the customers of the internet tend not to have. It could be changed with constant efforts for changing the perception. Thus what my suggestion is that if you want to make money with a service, try to find out the service which has already earned.
